Registrations are still being accepted for the summer recreation program being offered this summer by the City of Gallatin in cooperation with Northwest Missouri State University.

The program is eight weeks worth of recreational activities for six to 12 year-olds in and around Gallatin. The program will consist of a variety of sports and games, arts and crafts, nature and outdoors, field trips and special event activities.

The program will begin June 18 and run until Aug. 10.Registration forms can be picked up at and returned to Gallatin City Hall. Interested kids and parents are encouraged to call Gallatin City Hall for details.

During the month of June, the program will be run in the afternoons following summer school from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The month of July will find program hours shifting to 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The community building at Dockery Park will be the base of operations for the program. The cost for participation in this eight-week program is $25 for the first child registered from each family, and an additional fee of $20 for each additional child. Those families with more than four children of this age will be charged a flat fee of $70.

This fee will cover the cost of supplies and equipment needed for the summer. The program is designed upon the responses received from interest surveys previously distributed through the elementary school

“We are excited to be able to offer this youth recreation program in cooperation with Northwest,” stated Mayor L.B. Davis. “This will certainly give the kids something to do this summer in a fun, productive, and safe environment.”
