The Albany (MO) National Investors Men’s Fastpitch Softball Team improved to 10-2 on the season by capturing the 8th Annual Herzog Memorial Day Tournament. National Investors dominated every phase of the event, outscoring opponents a combined 42-4 while pounding out 11 home runs.

The pitching trio of Kyle Wardlow (2-0, 11 innings, 21 strikeouts), Brandon Craig (2-0, 9 innings, 14 strikeouts) and Eric Lewis (1-0, 9 innings, 8 strikeouts) overwhelmed the opposing batters. The team was led in hitting by centerfielder Rodney Doak (.692 average, 8 runs scored, one home run). Following close behind was third baseman Rod Walker (.667 average, 7 runs scored, 2 home runs), utility player Kevin Shaw (.467 average), shortstop Keith Schmitz (.462 average, 2 home runs), utility player Andy Lewis (.429 average, 2 home runs), leftfielder Scott Hall (.400 average, 2 home runs) and second baseman Rick Clark (.333 average).

National Investors beat Booneville A/s, 8-0; defeated St. Joe Rockets, 8-0; downed Lance Construction, 10-1; beat St. Joe Rockets again, 10-1; and knocked off Graf Pepsi of Brookfield for the championship, 6-2.
