June 3, 2001

Following are the approved minutes; all members were present.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting on various repairs necessary following the recent heavy rains.

Kevin Heldenbrand, sheriff, met with the commission regarding the question of the need for bonds on deputies. The sheriff is comfortable with the current policy and no significant amounts are handled. No action will be taken at this time.

Linda Adkins, Circuit Clerk, met with the commission with questions concerning HS HCS SB 288, recently passing the legislature. The commission reported that at their recent commissioners’ meeting, very little was known at this time.

The board members of the Lock Springs Special Road District met with the commission regarding their eligibility in obtaining a county grant for the purchase of maintenance equipment. However, the equipment selected by the board did not meet the county commission’s guidelines.

The commission reviewed the county bridge inventory.

The clerk reported that the 2001 tax assessment books had been submitted by the assessor.

Notice was received from the engineering firm of Shafer, Kline, and Warren, that the right-of-way clearance has been approved on BRO project (20) over Clear Creek.

A letter was received from the Daviess County Library Board requesting that Roger Eichler be appointed to complete the term of Pauline Heldenbrand. David Holcomb moved that Mr. Eichler be appointed. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried.

David Holcomb inspected a leak in the prosecuting attorney’s office and contacted Jerry Harris to make repairs.

Danny Heldenbrand moved that a portion of the meeting be closed according to chapter 610.021.1 RSMO. David Holcomb seconded. Carried.

Julia Roselle, prosecuting attorney, met with the commission regarding representation of the commission in a small claims action.

Ron Tarepin, KAW Fire Protection District, met with the commission concerning the disposition of radios for the benefit of Local Emergency Planning.

Valuations in the amount of $67,490 were added to the personal delinquent tax list.

June 8, 2001

Following are the approved minutes. Attending were David Holcomb, Danny Heldenbrand, and Linda Steward. Danny Heldenbrand was appointed to preside.

Mark Crawford, an independent insurance agent, met with the commission regarding health and life insurance.

The clerk submitted a lawsuit, delivered by certified mail earlier in the day, filed in district court by Ron Hood against the County Commission in the amount of $254,749.

David Holcomb moved to close a portion of the meeting for confidential communications with the commission’s attorney. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried.
