Carl Wiles has been appointed the new postmaster at Gallatin, effective May 5.
Mr. Wiles started his 23 year career in the postal service at Jamesport in 1978 as a clerk carrier. He was postmaster at Jamesport from 1982 until May of 2001. He also worked evenings in the Chillicothe Post Office as distribution/mail handler. He was detailed as Officer in Charge at Bethany before coming to Gallatin.
Mr. Wiles attended William F. Bolger Postal Academy in Potomac, Maryland, for training as an area postmaster trainer. He currently serves on the Postmaster Review Board as part of the selection process to fill post office vacancies.
Born in Jamesport, Mr. Wiles is a graduate of Tri-County High School. He grew up working behind the counter of the Wiles Drug Company, owned by his parents, Buel and Heddie Wile’s. The pharmacy served the community for over 50 years.
Mr. Wiles and his wife, Pat, live at Jamesport, where Pat works at the Home Exchange Bank. They have four sons, Graham, Nathan, Justin and Chris.
Mr. Wiles was a scoutmaster at Jamesport for 11 years. He and his wife served as scouting coordinators for the Jamesport community for 15 years. All four of his sons are Eagle Scouts. Mr. Wiles served on the Tri-County R-7 Board of Education for 12 years.
