James K. “Jim” Steele, 69, Cameron, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at the Liberty hospital.

Funeral services for James Steele were held Monday at the First Christian Church, Cameron. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery, Cameron, with arrangements by Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Memorials may be made to the Cameron Community Hospital Development Foundation.
James K. “Jim” Steele, 69, Cameron, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at the Liberty hospital.
Mr. Steele was born in Cameron and was a graduate of Cameron High School. He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia.
Mr. Steele served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was employed by the Platte-Clay Electric Co. for 37 years as an electrical engineer and then as a C.E.O. for the last 10 years, retiring in 1996.
Mr. Steele was a member of the Elmer Ellis American Legion Post No. 33, Cameron; Cameron Ambulance District, of which he was president; board of directors for the Kearney Commerce Bank; board of directors for the Northwest Electric, Cameron; and board of directors for the Associated Electric, Springfield.
On June 10, 1961, he married Shirley Clark in Cameron. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Jim A., Columbia; a daughter, Kelly Kellerstrass, Cameron; and five grandchildren.
