Funeral services for William Bowers will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Hamilton First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Bram Funeral Home at Hamilton. Burial will be at Cameron Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home.

William Warren Bowers, 83, Kidder, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Bowers was born at Lathrop. He grew up in the Lathrop area and attended country schools. He attended high school at Lathrop.

Mr. Bowers served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. He obtained the rank of sergeant.

On Dec. 31, 1945, he married Lena Mae Linville. They moved to Kidder in 1946 and lived there 54 years. She survives of the home.

Mr. Bowers was a member of the Kidder Baptists Church where he taught Sunday School and served as music leader for 25 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton for the last several years.

Mr. Bowers farmed and also worked several years at the International Shoe Factory in Hamilton. He owned his own plumbing and electrical business, was employed at the Lake City Ordinance plant, and as a custodian at the Kidder School.

Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by five brothers, Gene, Charlie, Herb, Jerry and Dave; and two sisters, Marie Fox Cuyle and Bessie Fuller.

Survivors include his wife, Lena; sons, William of Bucharest, Romania and Robert of Fulton; Linda Morgan of Kidder; Rebecca Rogers of Princeton; Ruth Ann Heldenbrand of Kidder; one sister, Mabel Greer of Toppenish, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
