Doris J. (Walters) Combs, 70, St. Joseph, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Funeral services for Doris Combs, sister of Barbara Davis of Gallatin, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church, St. Joseph. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation is after 9 a.m. today (Wednesday), at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to her church.
Doris J. (Walters) Combs, 70, St. Joseph, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at a St. Joseph hospital. Mrs. Combs was born in St. Joseph. She graduated from Central High School and attended Gard’s Business School, both of St. Joseph. She also lived in Angleton, Texas; and Shreveport, La.
Mrs. Combs, a homemaker, also had worked for Westab, in the traffic department of Hillyard Chemical Co. and for Dillard”s department store, all of St. Joseph.
Mrs. Combs was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and Schmitt Music Organ Club, both in St. Joseph.
On Sept. 16, 1949, she married Raymond Combs Jr. in St. Joseph. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by a brother, George K. Walters.
Other survivors include two sons, Paul D. and Roger J., both of St. Joseph; a daughter, Nancy R. Owens, St. Joseph; two other sisters, Virginia Halter, St. Joseph, and Mabel Auxier, Gower; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
