Carl Carter and his daughter, Brandi, of Gallatin were recently honored at the Naval Mobil Construction Battalion 15 Headquarters in Belton. Brandi was recognized for receiving the NMCB 15 BUCN Joel Cummings Seabee Memorial Scholarship.
Commander Jennison, commanding officer of NMCB 15 made the presentation during Battalion formation, a reception followed. Brandi, a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia, is majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
She is a member and treasurer of the service organization Daughters of Demeter. She belongs to Club Managers Association of America, and Hotel and Restaurant Management Club. Brandi will be completing her sophomore year at MU and will be interning this summer at Indian Hills Country Club, in Mission, Kan.
Captain Jennison advanced Carl to Senior Chief Petty Officer during ceremonies, March 2001. Currently he is transportation supervisor for NRMCB 15 Seabees. Carl began his Naval Career in 1974, serving four years active duty as an Equipment Operator in NMCB-4 in California and overseas in Diego Garcia.
After being discharged he joined the Reserve Naval Mobil Construction Battalion 15 and has been in the Naval Reserve program 16 years where he has been commended for his leadership abilities, outstanding conduct, and devotion to the SEABEE “Can Do” attitude and service to his country.
