Betty Trimble of Jamesport received the 2001 Bill Hoyt Local Government Service Award presented May 10 at the 34th annual meeting of Green Hills Regional Planning Commission. The dinner meeting was held at Grand River Inn in Chillicothe.

Mrs. Trimble recently retired from the staff of the Northwest Missouri Workforce Investment Board (formerly known as the Private Industry Council). Her career was characterized by an unselfish dedication to helping North Missourians achieve great job skills and earning capacities to support their families. She was also recognized for working with local elected officials on administering sometimes complex and confusing government job training programs.

The award has been in existence since 1979, named in honor of the late Bill Hoyt who served as a longtime presiding commissioner in Livingston County.

Green Hills RPC is one of 19 rural and metropolitan regional councils of local government in the state. The agency is funded by a combination of local voluntary dues, state and federal grants which amount to not more than 20% of the agency’s budget. The balance of the agency’s budget is met by contracts for provided services. Thus, the agency functions in some respects as a public management consulting firm governed by a board of local elected officials and citizen representatives.
