GHS band awards were announced by instructor David Schoeneck at the Night of the Arts held May 7 at the elementary school.
The prestigious John Phillip Sousa award went to Meredith McCann. The Patrick S. Gilmore award went to Chris Baker. The Director’s Choice award for the top junior high band student went to co-recipients Brittney Hixson and Lindsey Robertson.
Letters were earned by 20 high school students: Jamie Burnett, Katrina Calhoon, Janell Lee, Keira Story, Katherine Wright, Katie Heldenbrand, Catherine Berry, Meredith McCann, Jennie Youtsey, Robert Heldenbrand, Scott Wilkinson, Rachel Toney, Laura McCann, Chris Baker, Mariah Gibson, Luke Leeper, Rachelle Scholl, Erin Sweatman, Brice Garnett, and Wes Gay.
Band officers for next year are Laura McCann, president; Janell Lee, vice-president; Katie Ward, secretary; and Katherine Wright, treasurer.
