Sometime during the weekend of April 27-29, vandals did extensive damage at the Old Union Cemetery on Nickel and 160th Street west of Lake Viking, when almost every headstone was overturned. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the vandals. If you have any information, please call the sheriff’s office.
On April 28, a 43-year-old Lawrence, Kan., woman was charged with the Class B misdemeanor of exceeding the speed limit (30 miles over). She posted bond of $150.
A 25-year-old Kansas City man was charged April 28 with the Class A misdemeanor of possession of marijuana (under 35 grams) and for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Claycomo. He posted bond of $1,500.
A 35-year-old Gallatin woman was arrested April 25 for the Class B misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated. She posted bond of $500.
A 28-year-old McFall woman was arrested April 27 on two outstanding warrants for failure to appear for passing bad checks, Class A misdemeanor. She posted bond of $850.
Kenneth Venable of King City, 21, was charged April 28 with two counts of forgery, a Class C felony. Bond was set at $25,000.
The sheriff received a total of 36 calls in the period from April 24 to May 1.
