Six Gallatin R-5 students have been selected for the 2001 Primary Care Resource Initiative for Missouri.
Gallatin R-5 students Mackenzie Riley, Catherine Berry, Heather Berry, Kyle Hefley, Jacob Gardner and Rochelle Davitt have been selected for the 2001 Primary Care Resource Initiative for Missouri (PRIMO)/Missouri Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) Educational
Enrichment Academy.
This program provides enrichment programs in math, science and related academic areas. The students will trade two weeks of summer vacation for two weeks of algebra class with the hope of moving one step closer to a career in a primary care health profession.
PRIMO helps to prepare students for future medical careers such as doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses with bachelors degrees, and other medical careers in short supply.
Primary Care Resource Initiative for Missouri (PRIMO) is designed to provide academic and financial assistance to rural students who will pursue their professions in rural areas of Missouri.
Besides attending the academy during summer vacation, the students may also be involved in work experiences during the school year.
Significant financial assistance is also available to those who enter the professional training programs in college. Pictured, left to right, front row, are Kyle Hefley and Mackenzie Riley; back row, Jacob Gardner, Heather Berry and Catherine Berry.
