Frances Whitt, 86, retired last Friday, April 13, after serving seven years as a cook at the Daviess County Care Center. Her retirement cake featured a sports car, which the staff said was more appropriate for Frances than a wheelchair, because they expected her to just keep rolling along. Frances also received a peace lily, a money tree, roses from the care-center, and a rose bush and trellis from the dietary staff. Frances and her late husband, Elmer, were in the restaurant business for many years in Gallatin. She said she plans to continue baking at home and working in her flower garden.
