Kyle Croy, fourth grader in Mrs. Ellis’ class, assisted Greg Houghton to complete a project made by students in the class. Greg Houghton of Landmark Manufacturing visited the fourth graders on Tuesday, April 10, as part of the Partners In Education Program. While in the class, Mr. Houghton organized the students to complete a project much like employees at Landmark. Each student was assigned a specific job: Kyle Croy, production manager; Tyler Critten, quality assurance; Frankie Bass, tool crib manager; Logan Merrigan, paint supervisor; Caleb Cole and Trevor Ward, paint department. The other students were assigned to the subassemblies to form each part. The assembly workers had to order the parts from the paint department and tool crib and finish each part following a picture diagram. The production manager circled the classroom checking each group’s progress. The quality assurance manager checked each group’s work and looked for defective parts. The class learned how important it is to follow directions, work efficiently, and get along with coworkers.
