The second graders at Covel D. Searcy Elementary recently walked to the Gallatin City Hall to visit with City Administrator Jason Helton. In social studies the children had been talking about local government and learning abut the job of the mayor and council in making rules for the community. As the second grade Partner in Education, Mr. Helton showed the children his office, the mayor’s chair, and introduced them to secretaries Mrs. Barnes, Mrs. Hughes and

Police Chief Wycoff. The children learned that there are many people that help to run our town and that it takes much money to operate even a small community. The second grade teachers Mrs. Marilyn Hemry, Mrs. Linda Houghton, and student teacher Miss Hilary Davis accompanied

the children.
