Oren Leroy Ranes

Oren Leroy Ranes, age 83, of Liberty, Missouri, formerly of Tyler, Texas and Jamesport, Missouri, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at the Liberty Terrace Care Center, Liberty, Missouri.

Mr. Ranes attended and graduated from grade school on April 25, 1932 in Jamesport, Missouri.

He attended and graduated from Long Beach Evening High School, Long Beach, California on June 8, 1956.

Mr. Ranes retired from TRW on November 1, 1977. His work career consisted of a wide and varied background. At age seventeen he joined the civilian Conservation Corporation, from there he worked at a grocery store in Atchison, Kansas. From there he went to California and worked in many different lines of work – owned and operated the Ranes and Smith service station, real estate broker, worked for Lockheed Overseas Corporation, and worked for North American Aviation, Inc.

Mr. Ranes was a member of the Engineers and Architects Association and also the Albert Pike masonic Lodge #99, A.F. & A. M., of Wichita, Kansas.

Mr. Ranes was preceded in death by his parents, William Harry and Ethel J. (Taylor) Ranes; and his sister, Hazel Wright.

Survivors include his brother, Kenneth William Ranes of Roeland Park, Kansas; a sister-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews and loving family and friends.

Friends and family may call from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., on Friday, March 30, 2001 at the Northland Funeral Care, 1209 Swift Avenue, North Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the Hope-Eldringhoff Funeral Home, 201 South Market Street, Gallatin, Missouri. Cremation. Inurnment will be in the Jamesport Masonic Cemetery, Jamesport, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Lung Association, in care of either funeral home.
