The Daviess County Library was awarded a $6,517 grant from the Missouri State Library
The Daviess County Library was awarded a $6,517 grant from the Missouri State Library to purchase two new computers.
One computer will be for administrative purposes. The second computer will be early childhood. It will be located in the children’s area of the library and offer such programs as KidBuilder Pre- School through Kindergarten and KidBuilder Grades one through four, Nicelodeon ages five through eight, Land Before Time, Tonka Raceway, and other programs designed to reach children ages two through eight.
The library was one of 21 public libraries in the state awarded an LSTA Basic Equipment grant this winter from the Office of Secretary of State, Missouri State Library. The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), part of the Museum and Library Services Act of 1996, promotes access to learning and information resources of all types of libraries.
The State Library agencies develop programs that address the unique needs of their states, sometimes through sub-grants, such as Missouri’s Basic Equipment Grant program to public libraries, as well as other grant programs to all types of libraries, public, academic, research, school and special libraries.
Diane Frankel, Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, said, “New technology is changing libraries. Now, in addition to popular books and periodicals, libraries hold the keys to a universe of information without boundaries.”
