Don Thurman, 30, of New Hampton began duties March 8 as a Daviess County deputy. Thurman was sworn in this morning (Wednesday).

Thurman has 7 1/2 years of experience in the military police, and has also been employed as a deputy in both Worth and Harrison counties. Most recently he was employed by the Missouri Department of Corrections. He has over 1240 hours of certification training.

Thurman grew up in the Eagleville area. He plans to move his residence to Daviess County, and says that he is looking forward to working with a new department where a strong, new team can be built based upon training and learning from each other.
