Cody Lovejoy, grandson of James W. and Jean Lovejoy, recently returned from a 10-day trip to Italy with his Boy Scout troop. The troop toured Rome and the Naples area including the Isle of Capri and the Amalfi Coast, which is purported to be the most beautiful coastline in the world.
Activities in Rome included trips to the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, the Pantheon and three museums. While in Rome, the groups stayed in a hostel. In the Naples area, they stayed at Carney Park, a cabin/camping facility located in an extinct volcano and next door to a U.S. Naval Air Station.
The group climbed Mt. Vesuvius (an active volcano), went snow skiing, visited the excavated city of Pompeii, and took a sea excursion on a hydrofoil craft.
