Carl Alexander of Gallatin will celebrate his 100th birthday on March 14, 2001. Mr. Alexander was born March 14, 1901, in Daviess County. He graduated form the Jameson High School.

Carl and Hortence Feurt were married March 27, 1927, in Jameson. Hortence died Sept. 1, 1972.

Carl farmed in the Jameson and Coffey areas before purchasing a general grocery store in Jameson. He was a Jameson School bus driver. When the weather was good he drove the car and when the roads were bad he drove a horse drawn school wagon.

Carl and his wife owned and operated the general grocery store in Jameson for 25 years.

Carl was a charter member of the Jameson Lions Club before moving to Gallatin. He now attends the meetings in Gallatin. Carl has been a Lions member for about 50 years.

Carl has served as a deacon in the Jameson Baptist Church for 56 years. Carl has attended the Annual Jameson Picnic for 95 years.

The honoree is the father of Dale Alexander, Gallatin, and Betty Reno, Cameron. He has seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
