The city has received a grant award in the amount of $45,088.00 to renovate the municipal pool facility, according to a report by City Administrator Jason Helton during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Feb. 26 at City Hall. The grant followed an application submitted in June 2000 to the Department of Natural Resources.

A fund-raising campaign will be initiated to generate the city’s match portion of $24,400.00 plus additional operating funds. The renovation project will likely take place following the 2001 pool season.

The board was informed that an authorization letter has finally been received from the DNR for the electrical generation peaking project.

Two child pool season tickets were donated by the board to the Daviess County Head Start Parent Group who requested the swimming passes as part of their fund-raising activity.

A bid was accepted from Ikon Office Solutions in the amount of $5,286 for a Ricoh Afticio 220 replacement copier to be used by all departments at City Hall.

During public comment, Michael Huffman discussed the problem of unleashed dogs around the city, particularly on trash pick-up days.

Bills in the amount of $194,426.07 were approved for payment.

Mayor L.B. Davis asked that the number of dog complaints be addressed and that the street potholes be filled as soon as weather permits. The mayor also inquired about the status of the five-year plan development.

The above are the unapproved minutes of the regular meeting for the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held on Feb. 26 at City Hall. Present were Mayor L.B. Davis, aldermen Bob Snidow (arrived at 6:15 p.m.), Norma Griffin, Shonna Morrison, Cecil Akin and City Administrator Jason Helton.
