The Gallatin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held their annual “President’s Tea” on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Gallatin.

Due to the inclement weather, many of the winners and teachers were unable to attend.

The Good Citizen winners were the following: Nathan Uthe, Winston; Luke Leeper, Gallatin; Amber Hackett, North Daviess; Jacqueline Hartley, Pattonsburg; and Daniel Shuler, Tri-County. Mrs. Nancy Terry, Chairman, presented each with a certificate, pin and monetary award.

The American History Essay winners were Beth Morris and Steven Steinman, seventh grade, North Daviess; and Trisha Breit, eight grade, North Daviess. Trisha also received the Mary Frances Macy award. Mrs. Betty Heyser Huffman, Chairman, presented each with a medal, certificate and monetary award.

Miss Lindsey Robertson, Gallatin eighth grader, received the Mary Grace Weldon award for outstanding work in Junior High Music.

All of the winners received a special gift form Mrs. Wiley Foley.

Members, guests, teachers and students enjoyed the afternoon. They were served refreshments from a beautiful tea table.
