The Cameron Community Hospital Foundation is gearing up for its first Mardi Gras Gala on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the old school in Cameron. Scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. the dinner/dance will feature sights and sounds of New Orleans, as well as tantalizing cuisine, according to Foundation Coordinator Sandie Beihl.

The gala kicks-off the fund drive for CCH’s new hospital project which has been in the planning stages for the past two years. The new facility will be located southeast of Cameron at the intersection of Interstate 35 and BB Highway.

Betty Price, producer of last year’s CCH variety show, “Those Fabulous Fifties”, along with Burle Bezet and The MudBugs, will provide music for dancing and entertainment. A floor show, choreographed by Meri Thompson, will feature Barry Arthur, Michele Baker, Sandie Beihl, Nancy Clemons, Cleo Cope, Tami Easton, Scott Faubion, Grace Feese, Kelli Jackson, Debbie Lee, Steve Reeves, Peggy Sharp, Doris Schmidt, Kay Utt and O.E. Wilkerson. Additional entertainment will be provided by magicians, Steve Reeves and David Jensen. Shellby Hendee is the show’s emcee, and Peggy Sharp and Kay Utt serve as costumers.

The evening’s menu will feature hors d’oeuvres, prime rib, ham, jambalaya, green bean bundles, party and sweet potatoes, cornbread and homemade rolls, salad and dessert cake.

Admission is charged per person and costumes are optional. For more information or to make reservations, contact Beihl at 816-632-2101, ext. 332.
