Sara Barton and Darin Maurer were married on Aug. 12, 2000, by Rev. David Fitzmaurice at the Gallatin United Methodist Church. Sara is the daughter of Jack and Lois Barton of Gallatin. Darin’s parents are Gene and Beverly Yarbrough of Leaberg, Ore., and Roger and Terri Ann Maurer of Winter Haven, Fla.
The bride’s escort was her father, Jack. Sara’s white dress featured a layered tulle skirt with cathedral train gathered onto a strapless bodice totally covered with sequined pearl beading. Anna Barton, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Katie Barton, Columbia, sister- in-law of the bride, Teresa Zion, Kansas City, Bobbi Hopkins, Columbia and Rachel Kroll, Omaha, Neb. They wore sleeveless periwinkle satin georgette a-line gowns. Richard Wilkinson of Bellflower, Calif., was best man. Groomsmen were Alan Barton, Columbia, brother of the bride, Paul Milho, Garden Grove, Calif., Steve Brown, Phoenix, Ariz., and Ken Jones, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Candle lighters were Lauren, Rebecca and Alicia Briggs, Millersville, Md., cousins of the bride. Their gowns, identical to the bridesmaids’, were butter yellow. The flower girl, Hannah Scott, and ring bearer, Carter Scott, were cousins of the bride from Dallas, Texas. Jay Johnson, Gallatin, and John Morgan, Long Beach, Calif., served as ushers. Music was provided by a string-ensemble with vocals by Anna Barton and Rachel Kroll.
The reception and rehearsal dinner were held at the Lake Viking Clubhouse. A three tier wedding cake decorated with white frosting beads was topped with fresh roses and a bride and groom first used by the bride’s great-grandparents. Transportation for the bridal party was provided by a 1937 Packard Twelve Touring Sedan driven by the bride’s father, and a 1951 Rolls Royce Touring Limousine driven by Garry Westher, Richmond.
The couple flew to Tahiti for a honeymoon on the islands of Bora Bora and Moorea. They now reside in Cypress, Calif. Darin is a Captain with Continental Airlines. Sara is a health care representative with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
