Farmers who desire to become certified or recertified to buy and use ‘Restricted Use’ pesticides will have the opportunity to do so on Feb. 22.

Training by University Outreach and Extension personnel will be offered at three locations in Northwest Missouri. Each training session will last approximately three hours. Producers will be

provided an application for certification following the training session. The Missouri Department of Agriculture will issue certification upon receipt of the applications. There is no charge for either the training or the certification. Registration to attend is not required.

The first training session will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Farm Credit Services Building, 2109 South Riverside Road, in St. Joseph. Another session will be held beginning at 1 p.m. at the Squaw Creek Truck Stop, Junction of I-29 and Highway 159 south of Mound City. The final

session will be at the Nodaway County Extension Center, Courthouse Annex in Maryville starting at 6:30 p.m.

The certification to be provided by this training is for private pesticide users only. It allows farmers to buy and apply ‘Restricted Use’ pesticides on land they own or rent. It does not allow them to legally apply pesticides for hire. Rick Bottoms and Donald E. Null, Regional Agronomy Specialists, will provide instruction for the training sessions.
