The Worth County girls and Tri-County boys captured 1st place titles in the 31st Annual Gilman City Invitational Tournament.

The Worth County girls and Tri-County boys captured 1st place titles in the 31st Annual Gilman City Invitational Tournament last Saturday. The Lady Tigers defeated North Daviess, 43-30, to win their crown. Tri-County knocked off 2nd-seeded Princeton, 48-39, to win a title.

Tri-County upped its season record to 14-2 with Saturday night’s win. Clay Fewins led the Mustangs with 16 points and 5 assists. Matt Prescott contributed 8 points and a team-high 12 rebounds for the

Mustangs.

Tri-County squeaked past Gilman City, 54-50, in Thursday’s semifinal round. Colby Dixon notched 20 points and 7 rebounds. Fewins added 11 points for the Mustangs. Prescott totaled 10 points to go with 8 boards. Gilman City was led by Jacob Wilson with 16 points and Luke Crump with 15.

Senior Renae Miller propelled Worth County’s girls past North Daviess by scoring a game-high 20 points. Kayna Wake added 13 for the Lady Tigers. North Daviess was led by Mandy Williams with 14 points.

Gilman City’s boys knocked off Worth County, 52-36, to capture the 3rd place trophy. Levi Allen scored 13 points and pulled down 7 rebounds for the Hawks. Jason Tibbles put up double figures in points (11) and rebounds (11). Luke Crump scored 9 points and registered 5 assists and 8 steals for Gilman City.

The Gilman City girls took out Princeton, 48-38, for the consolation title. Amy Gibson ripped the net for 16 points for the Lady Hawks and chalked up 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Amber Griffith added 14 points and Lindsay Williams chipped in 9 for Gilman City.
