Garden Club, Business Women and Homemakers hold meetings
Gallatin Garden Club met Jan. 16 at Bradeaux with 11 members present. Delma Rodgers, president, led the meeting. The new officers were presented by the committee. They are: Maxine Linville, president; Geraldine Snidow, vice-president; Sue Downey, secretary; Hazelle
Tomlinson, treasurer. The program by Delma was on caring for amaryllis and poinsettias through both winter and summer. Time was spent on filling out the new books, hostesses, etc. Refreshments were compliments of the outgoing president, Delma Rodgers. Next meeting is at 2 p.m. on Feb. 20 at Bradeaux with Maxine Linville as hostess.
Daviess County Business Women Association met Jan. 9 with 14 members present. Birthday drawings were won by Darlene Patton, Lola Critten and Mary Virginia Croy. New officers are Lola Critten, president; Janie McKinsey, vice president; Candy Hughes, secretary; Pam Howard,
treasurer. New business was the planning of the February meeting. Dinner was furnished by Rose’s Sweet Shop. Due to bad weather we had no meeting in December.
Lake Viking Homemaker’s met on Jan. 4, 2001, with 16 members present and one new member, Nedria Eichler. Betty Cooksey was presiding. Hostesses were Joy Wilsted and Sharon Lutter. Brenda Stinson gave the devotion, “Seek God First.” President Betty Cooksey went over the by-
laws for the club. Yearbooks were filled out on monthly events and roll call ideas. Monies were donated to Green Hills, Daviess County Senior Center, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Comfort Care Hospice and Lion’s Eye Research. Everybody is welcome.
Preceptor Zeta Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Jan. 8 at Sue Gillilan’s with 10 members present. We will help sponsor Anna Barton to girls State. A history of “piggy banks” was Carol Wood’s program. Next meeting is breakfast at Carol Weaver’s home on Jan. 20.
