Graveside services and burial for Orland Carter, a native of Daviess County, were held Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Grandview Cemetery in Albany, with military rites by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5329 and American Legion Post No. 106, both of Albany; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2176 and American Legion Post No. 216, both of Bethany.

Mr. Carter was born in Daviess County . He was a graduate of the McFall high school.
During World War II, he served in the Army and received five Bronze Stars.
Mr. Carter retired as chief of police in Albany.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5329 of Albany.
On Nov. 14, 1942, he married Evelyn Gregory in Onset, Mass. She died in 1991.
Mr. Carter was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Hulet and Madeline Jameson.
Survivors include two daughters, Dottie Lodike, Kansas City, and Debbie Bowman, Parkville; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
