Elaine Cummings and David Farnsworth visited the Winston R-6 Elementary recently, presenting the Think First Program. The Think First Program is designed to bring youth to understand the cause of and prevention of head and spinal cord injuries. The program’s goal is to help students understand that head and spinal injuries are all too common in our society and encourages children to make their own decisions about risk-taking behaviors that result in devastating injuries. Highlighted was the importance of using seat belts, wearing helmets with bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, ATV’s, motorcycles, and scooters. The presenters also stressed not to drink and drive or get in a vehicle with someone who has.
