Youth from the North Daviess R-3 chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently participated in a weekend leadership training conference held Nov. 10-12 in Kansas City. Members Trisha Breit, Crystal Cook and Shannon Dutro along with advisor Dorothy Hanes participated in a weekend of workshops and ssions.
The FCCLA theme was “Capture the Moment.” During the general session students experienced a three-screen multi-media presentation. They attended a variety of leadership training opportunities offered throughout the weekend. Among the featured speakers was Jason Dorsey, founder of the World Institute to End School Violence.
Saturday’s workshop involved training in FCCLA’s membership campaign, Member Quest 2001, a program offering ideas on how to recruit, recognize and retain members. Other programs included Dynamic leadership and Leaders At Work, and sessions that focused on community involvement, leadership skills and public relations. The keynote speaker was Bill Cordes. Twelve states were represented at the Cluster meeting.
