Bridge construction bids received, now under review

Following are the approved minutes of Nov. 20, 2000. All members were present.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting routine matters.

Danny Heldenbrand and David Holcomb reported having attended a “Transport Missouri” meeting last week.

At 10 a.m. as advertised, bids were opened for construction of bridge 14800101. Missouri Bridge and Concrete was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $57,382.17. Mike Turner, Harrington and Cortelyou, will review the bids prior to the final acceptance of the bid.

Julia Roselle, prosecuting attorney; Richard Evans and John Loyd, Colfax Township board members; and Don Mathenas, interested party, met with the commission regarding the length of 109th Street in that township lying south of Highway 69. Mr. Mathenas contends that the road should continue and intersect with the highway again on the section line of sections 18 and 19, at Windy Ridge. The commission found little evidence supporting his theory. However, the matter was referred to Ms. Roselle for further study. The Colfax Township Board will be provided a copy of her findings.

The commission reviewed the treasurer’s report for the month of October.

Bob Feigly, Daviess County Special Road District #1, met with the commission regarding common interests. Intersection safety was discussed and several locations cited where yield signs may be needed.
