Area HDC Conference basketball teams opened the 2000-2001 season with mixed success Tuesday night, Nov. 21.
The North Daviess Lady Knights blew the lid off the basket at Osborn with a 71-48 victory over the Lady Wildcats. Darcie Iddings, Lindsay Hunter, Mandy Williams and Lindsay Ray combined for 66 points as the Lady Knights put all 4 in double figures. Iddings led all scorers with 24 points. Hunter added 17, Williams tallied 14 and Ray contributed 11 for North Daviess.
Osborn handed the North Daviess boys a 100-36 setback in the nightcap. Brock Griffin led the Knights with 18 points.
Maysville took a pair of non-conference games from Winston. The Lady Redbirds fell, 55-21, with Stephanie Caldwell dumping in 8 points for Winston. Luke Caldwell scored 8 points in a losing effort as Maysville took the boys game, 60-35.
Pattonsburg earned a split with Union Star as Dustin Miller poured in 18 points to pace the Panthers. Bryan Williamson added 11 and Tyler Mason contributed 10 for the Panthers. Union Star captured the girls game, 59-29. Nena Woodward topped the Lady Panthers with 10 points.
Tri-County’s boys rolled past Southwest of Ludlow, 68-54, in other non-conference action. Daniel Shuler led a balanced Mustang scoring attack with 23 points. Colby Dixon added 13, Clay Fewins tossed in 12 and Andrew Henderson popped in 10 for Tri-County. The Lady Mustangs got off to a slow start with a 48-19 loss to the Lady Wildcats. Lindsey Davis scored 5 points to lead Tri-County.
