The Gallatin Bulldogs easily grabbed a pair of non-conference victories against East Buchanan Tuesday night Nov. 21, in 2000-2001 openers. The GHS girls handled East Buchanan, 52-34, while the Bulldog boys claimed a 53-22 win.

The Lady Bulldog challenged East Buchanan’s zone defense with outside shooting and quick ball movement on the perimeter. Junior Erin Sweatman played a complete game, scoring 11 points and registering 6 steals and 5 assists. Sisters Roxi and Rochelle Davitt scored 10 points each. Roxi pulled down 7 rebounds and Rochelle added 6. Kayli Burrell notched a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 8 points for Gallatin.

The GHS boys won with their press, in your face defense and good rebounding position on both ends of the floor. Junior Robert Heldenbrand tallied all 19 of his points in the first 3 quarters. Seniors Joey Evans and Nathan Henderson each scored 9 points. Henderson added 3 steals. Junior Jake Humphrey added 6 points. Junior Brice Garnett totaled 6 points with 3 steals and 3 assists.

The top-seeded Gallatin girls open the 24th Gallatin Invitational against Tri-County at 9:15 on Monday, Nov. 27. The #3 GHS boys square off against Gilman City at 9:15 on Tuesday.
