Two natives of Daviess County, both involved in teaching vocational agriculture at Norborne High School, are involved in judging at the National FFA Convention being held this week at Louisville, KY.
Dallas Lockridge, a Gallatin R-5 alumnus, is judging and interviewing national equine proficiency candidates from across the United States. Brenda Smith, a graduate of Tri-County R-7 at Jamesport, is doing the same type of judging for Diversified Livestock.
A proficiency is an award given to an FFA member who is considered proficient in the project area which the candidate has during his/her FFA career. Placement is when the candidate works in that field but has no ownership. An Entrepreneur is a candidate who is the owner of his/her project.
Dallas is judging equine placement candidates picked out of all state FFA contest winners. They compete in such areas as working for harness racers, major breeders, or learning how to train horses. Dallas is judging the top four candidates. The winner is the new National FFA Equine Placement Proficiency winner.
Dallas, a 1994 GHS graduate, is the son of Kenneth and Sharon Lockridge, Jamesport.
