COUNTY COMMISSION

Following are approved minutes of Oct. 16. All members were present.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting on construction projects and ongoing repairs.

Bob Albrecht, Harrison Township landowner, met with the commission regarding the condition of the roads in that township.

The commission reviewed the budget to actual reports for this fiscal year.

Joe Reed and Dick Carpenter, Harrison Township trustee and board member, met with the commission with questions involving the equipment grant offered to townships. Their grant will be awarded when a financial statement of the township is filed in the clerk’s office.

Barney Esbeck, Esbeck Construction, met with the commission regarding the construction plans for bridge 1480011 over Big Branch. Missouri Department of Transportation has approved the final plans. This project will be solely funded by the county for soft-match credits. Harrington and Cortelyou engineering firm reported that no Disadvantaged Business Employer reports were necessary on this project.

David Holcomb moved to accept the bid from Mid-Continental Restoration as the best bid for masonry and tuck pointing of the courthouse, due to the amount of work proposed. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried unanimously. The final bid amount is $38,820 with an additional amount due if the west column capitol is rebuilt.

In the afternoon, the commission inspected a road in Colfax Township between I-35 and Highway 69 along the section lines of 17 and 18.

The commission also discussed the possibility of providing health insurance benefits for county employees.
