Larry Chipman, attorney, opens office in Gallatin

Larry G. Chipman, attorney and counselor, has opened an office in Gallatin at 101 S. Main Street Suite C, between Whitt’s Barber Shop and Missouri Land Title.

Mr. Chipman and Aaron Cook joined their expertise to form Chipman Cook, P.C., in 1999. The firm offers service in estate planning, business law, real estate matters and bankruptcy.

Chipman Cook, P.C. has an Independence office and is also available by appointment in Cameron.

Mr. Chipman was born in born in Arizona and grew up in Arkansas. He has been in the Kansas City area since 1984.

He and his wife, Elizabeth, moved to Cameron this summer.

“We wanted to escape the city,” Mr. Chipman said. “We enjoy the small town atmosphere and the friendly people. It seems easier to get things done.”

Elizabeth Chipman is a speech therapist, but right now works as a full-time mother and homemaker. They have one son, Alex, 11.

Mr. Chipman received his bachelor’s degree in business (with honors) in 1976. He received his law degree from the University of Arkansas in 1981, where he was winner of the “Client Counseling” competition and participated in Moot Court. He is admitted to practice law in Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas.

He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and the J. Ruben Clark Law Society. He has taught business law at a business college.

In 1983, Mr. Chipman received an American Bar Association award for outstanding legal assistance to Armed Forces personnel and in 1992 was recognized for Outstanding Community Service for work with the Advance Directives Project by the Midwest Bioethics Center, Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Mr. Chipman served three years in the Army as an attorney and still serves in the Army Reserves, presently as an assistant professor of military science at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

The Gallatin office is open on Wednesday and on other days by appointment.
