Gallatin’s request to waive the local portion of the COPS grant has been approved, according to a report by City Administrator Jason Helton during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Monday, Oct. 9, 2000. The City is not required to match a portion of that position’s salary. The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded the requested salary and benefit amount for three years.

In other business at Monday’s meeting, Chief Wycoff provided the aldermen an update on the citizen’s advisory committee on animal control and its efforts to make animals at the pound more adoptable.

An ordinance vacating a street in Wirt’s second addition to the City of Gallatin received passage after first and second readings.

Liquor license applications for the Southside Tavern and the Red Dog were approved.

Proposed revenues and expenditures for the 2001 General Fund were reviewed.

Bills in the amount of $67,675.08 were approved for payment.

Alderman Griffin reported that a citizen had contacted her complaining of weeds on properties and another citizen contacted her regarding curbside recycling.

Aldermen Bod Snidow reported that he had received a complaint of a barking dog.

Alderman Shonna Morrison inquired about winterization of the pool facility.
