Superior Services will begin offering curbside recycling for city residents according to a report from City Administrator Jason Helton to the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting held Sept. 25 at City Hall.

Curbside recycling will take place on the third Friday of each month beginning Oct. 20. This convenient service will take the place of the drop-off location at the high school Additional information for residents will soon be published in the newspaper.

Mr. Helton also stated that electricity generation at the city power plant was extremely high for the month of August. Accordingly, a fuel cost adjustment of $.007/kwh will be necessary on the utility bill for that period.

Chief Wycoff reported on recently solved cases. In cooperation with the Sheriff’s Department, suspects were identified and property was recovered.

The board accepted a bid from Frost Insurance Agency for city insurance for 2001 in the amount of $29,317.

An ordinance relating to the establishment of natural gas rates was approved after first and second readings.

City Administrator Jason Helton was recognized and commended for his efforts for the past year and half.

Bills in the amount of $99,459.05 were approved for payment.

The board went into closed session at 7:30 p.m. and adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
