Ruth Lewis presented an appeal to the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education to offer an activity pass for purchase during their regular meeting held Sept. 11 at Jameson. The board agreed to the following pricing levels: family pass for $85; single adult pass for $30; single student pass for $15; and senior citizen (55+) for $15.

In other business at Monday’s meeting, bills were paid as presented.

During citizens communications, Annette Lowery presented the board with a draft of an alcohol/drug free/citizenship pledge she and some other teachers wished to use for all participants in extracurricular activities. The board instructed Mrs. Lowery to resubmit her proposal after addressing various concerns.

David Iddings read a letter from Dorothy Hanes thanking the board for the recent renovations to her classroom.

Ms. Kirby presented a four year history of revenues and expenditures for use in future budget planning.

A proposal for the installation of a fire protection system was read from Northeast Sprinkler of Lawson. It was the consensus of the board to pursue the estimates for a fire escape.

During new business, bus routes were accepted as presented.

The application for Technology Acquisition and Enhancement and Video Grants was approved.

During administrative reports, Elementary Principal Sheri Steinman reported an enrollment of 56 in the elementary and 10 in preschool. There will be a parent meeting on Oct. 5. The topic will be preventing drug abuse. The Reach Out America Van will be available for tours.

High School Principal Todd Willhite reported an enrollment of 56 in the high school. Nine college credit hours are offered through the ITV classroom. Students are enrolled in Spanish I & II, College English and College History.

North Daviess will host the District Softball Tournament Oct. 5-7.

The enrollment option plan was approved.

The board decided on Oct. 13 for a teacher inservice. School will dismiss at 12:40.

The board will host the Board/Staff Dinner at the elementary building on Sept. 25, 2000, at 6:30 p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education was set for 7:30 on Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in the High School conference room at Jameson.
