COUNTY COMMISSION

Following are approved minutes of Sept. 5. All members were present.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting that they had begun construction of bridge number 0020015 in Benton Township. The commissioners reviewed the policy of disposition of scrap metal with them. They also discussed the incentives for the employees to obtain their CDLs. The commission will pay an additional $.10 per hour for a Class B license or $.25 per hour for a Class A license effective Sept. 1.

Bills were audited and paid.

At 11 a.m., as advertised, the commission opened a bid for tuckpointing from Keating Tuckpointing. David Holcomb made the motion to reject the bid as excessive as it was nearly triple the amount paid five years ago. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried. Other companies will be contacted for prices.

In the afternoon, the commissioners inspected roads and bridges in the Jamesport and Lake Viking areas. Also, they inspected a bridge in Union Township that a truck fell through due to driving outside the runway boards earlier in the day. Damages are to be repaired immediately by county employees.

Personal tax valuations in the amount of $26,604 were added to the delinquent tax list.
