Funeral services for James Snider will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Roberson Funeral Home in Pattonsburg. Burial will be in Civil Bend Christian Cemetery, Pattonsburg. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #216 and V.F.W. Post #2176 of Bethany, and American Legion Post #106 and V.F.W. Post #5329 of Albany. The family will receive friends after 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where friends may call after noon Friday.

James R. Snider, 90, Pattonsburg, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at an area nursing home.

Mr. Snider was born in Pattonsburg. He graduated from Civil Bend High School in 1929.

Mr. Snider served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Snider was a farmer in the Pattonsburg area his entire life.

In 1931, he married Viola Olsen of Winston. They were divorced in 1945.

Mr. Snider was preceded in death by two daughters, Lois Lee in 1934 and Barbara Jean in 1935, both stillborn; his stepmother, Laura (Burns) Snider; three brothers, Leslie, Archie and Orval; and a sister, Wilda.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn K. Maldonado, Orange, Calif.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
