Students of Gayla’s Dance Studio in Gallatin recently competed in the USA Dance Nationals, sanctioned through Las Vegas, Nev. The competition was held in June, 2000, at the Mel Tillis Theater in Branson. Students competing were Dannette Teel, Aubrey Nelson and Ida Jarboe.

The dancers competed against studios from all across the U.S. Aubrey was the youngest competitor at 3 ½-years-old. She received one silver, two golds, and one platinum. Platinum was the highest a dancer could receive in the competition.

Dannette received three golds and was a runner-up in the Miss Dance Competition. She also received a special award for her 50’s dance to “At the Hop.” Ida competed in the adult category and received a gold medal and an award for “Most Potential Dancer.”

Aubrey, Dannette and Ida will all be returning to competition for the 2000-2001 year through Gayla’s Dance Studio with Gayla Teel as their dance coach and instructor. [Submitted Photo]
