COUNTY COMMISSION

Following are approved minutes of Aug. 21. All members were present.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting routine matters.

The commission discussed Associate Circuit Judge Daren Adkins’ request to purchase new court recording equipment as budgeted. Danny Heldenbrand moved that Judge Adkins should obtain bids from vendors and order the necessary equipment staying within the guidelines of chapter 50.660 RSMo. David Holcomb seconded. Carried unanimously.

Sally Gray requested permission to use the lobby of the courthouse for the display of paintings and other artwork during Chautauqua. Granted.

Chris Redline, MoDOT, met with the commission for introductory purposes. He reported that the department has used guardrail for sale at Cameron. The commissioners expressed concerns regarding recent repairs made to state lettered roads and the need for additional repairs or resurfacing. They also discussed planned projects for 2001 between Gallatin and Jamesport.

The commission met with Jamesport City Council members answering questions regarding the formation of special road subdistricts.

Jason Helton, Gallatin city administrator, met with the commission also discussing special road districts.

Allen Fender, representing the Jamesport Fire Department, met with the commission to discuss the installation of a dry hydrant near the Conservation Department’s lake. The commissioners agreed to make the county track hoe available at the appropriate time.

At 11 a.m., as advertised, the annual tax hearing was held. David Holcomb moved that the levy be set at $.29, which is a $.09 reduction from the $.38 ceiling. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried unanimously.

Reta Rains discussed the Local Emergency Planning Commission grant application with the commission. The commission instructed her to proceed with the application.

Bob Burnett, MoDOT, met with the commission concerning current BRO projects.

The commission discussed needs for next year’s budget process in order to make a smooth transition between office holders.
