The 2000 City Property Tax Levy was set during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Monday, Aug. 28, at City Hall. The amount levied was:

Parks and Recreation $0.2113
Band $0.0200
Total $0.8251
No citizens were in attendance for the 2000 Property Tax Levy Hearing and no comments were received.
In other business at Monday’s meeting, City Administrator Jason Helton reported that the fuel cost adjustment factor for September’s utility bill will be $0.009/kwh.
The City Fall clean-up will be Sept. 12 for the east side and Sept. 14 for the west side. Superior Services will be collecting on their regular routes.
The City of Gallatin will be co-sponsoring a limited household hazardous waste collection for Gallatin area residents. In cooperation with the North Missouri Solid Waste District, the event will be held at the City Power Plant from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 9. Household paints and solvents can be disposed on in an environmentally friendly manner at no charge for any resident of Daviess County.
During new business, the aldermen approved an ordinance amending Chapter 23 of the Gallatin City Code addressing personnel after first and second readings.
The mayor and city clerk received permission to execute an agreement with Midland Engineering Inc. for professional engineering services after first and second reading of an authorizing ordinance.
Chief of Police Jim Wycoff provided an update on officer training for state requirements and a brief report on department activities.
During comments by aldermen, Shonna Morrison announced that the Gallatin Area Revitalization Alliance will be sponsoring a city-wide clean-up on Sept. 9, 2000. Volunteers can meet at Dockery Park at 8:30 a.m. before cleaning up various parts of town.
Bob Snidow reviewed year to date revenue and expense reports and also discussed a proposed area fire district as petitioned by area residents.
Mayor Davis inquired about maintenance on the city water wells, mowing of the Business Park, and the opportunity for residents to recycle on the third weekend of every month.
During public comment, Gene Schweizer inquired about the amount spent year to date on city streets and on the year to date revenues of the gas system.
Bills in the amount of $138,640.37 were approved for payment.
The board went into executive session at 7:05 p.m. and adjourned the meeting at 7:15 p.m.
