Kelly Squires, daughter of Peggy and Elvin Noel of Gallatin, and a 1982 graduate of Gallatin High School, won the world championship of Tae Kwon Do, second degree Black Belt, at competition held in Little Rock, Ark., on June 8-9, 2000. Last year, Kelly also won the world championship, second degree black belt, in TKD. Approximately four years ago, Kelly began competition in the ancient Korean discipline, thinking it would be beneficial to get her children involved in the sport. She is pictured with her son, Ryan, 9, who holds a 1st degree black belt. Kelly and her husband Bill reside in Springfield with their children, Ryan and Megan.
