County Commission

Following are approved minutes of July 31, 2000. All members were present. Minutes were approved.

The commission discussed the BEAP report on bridge 1210018. The commissioners are concerned about the safety of anyone crossing the bridge and according to the report, repairs would prove to be too costly. The commissioners will contact the land owners regarding alternate routes to nearby farmland and instruct the county bridge crew to remove the bridge by Sept. 1.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission on routine matters. Bills were audited and paid.

The commission discussed last week’s employee evaluations on the bridge employees, granting increases effective Aug. 1, 2000.

The commission received a request to have brush removed on the road leading to the Whitt Cemetery. The commissioners will inspect.

Notice was received from Missouri Department of Transportation informing the commission that no posting will be necessary of bridges 02000091 and 46400151.

Carl Holcomb met with the commission inquiring of job availability.

The commissioners reported having attended the Northwest Commissioners Association meeting in Unionville on July 26.

Julia Roselle, prosecuting attorney, met with the commission regarding last week’s bridge vandalism and other matters. The juveniles involved will be instructed to make restitution.

A complaint was received by telephone from the Department of Natural Resources involving dumping of debris from the demolition of a house along a road in Benton Township.

Steve Adkison, Grand River Township landowner, met with the commission with concerns regarding the proposed road closing near his residence and the status of repairs of the bridge on 235th Street. The commission will schedule the replacement for the BRO program.

Delinquent tax valuations of $20,980 were added to the personal back tax book.
