Chief Wycoff stated that any boarding fees paid by Hamilton could be used to offset some of the existing operational costs of the facility.
Chief Wycoff reported that the City of Hamilton has inquired about the use of Gallatin Animal Control Facility as a back-up to their primary facility during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Monday, July 24, 2000, at City Hall.
Chief Wycoff stated that any boarding fees paid by Hamilton could be used to offset some of the existing operational costs of the facility. Council members approved an ordinance authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute an agreement with the City of Hamilton for the use of the Animal Control Facility after first and second readings.
Chief Wycoff also reported that he is seeking surplus uniforms and equipment from the Kansas City Police Department to reduce department equipment expense.
The board passed an ordinance authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute an agreement with Superior Services – Northern Missouri for residential solid waste collection services after first and second readings.
The board accepted a bid from Pettijohn Auto Center, Inc., to purchase a 2000 Chevrolet S-10, 4 cyl., basic package for $12,185.00 with consideration to upgrading the warranty if cost-effective.
City Administrator Jason Helton gave an update on summer purchasing of natural gas.
It was reported that $2,900 was received from the insurance company for city truck #6. This amount will be applied toward the purchase of the replacement vehicle.
The city generators ran for about a ten day period in the middle of July. Due to the length of generation and higher costs of diesel fuel, a fuel cost adjustment factor will likely be required on the September utility bill.
Mr. Helton asked the board for a performance evaluation on his position to be completed as a result of 18 months of service as of September 1, 2000.
Alderman Griffin reported she had received a complaint on meter reading practices and routes. She also reported she had received compliments for the repair work completed on the alley off the west side of the square and at Main and Mill streets.
Alderman Snidow discussed the proposed street improvement project on the Aug. 8 ballot.
Alderman Barnes reported he had received complaints that the parking signs in front of the Tea Room were confusing. He also reported that he had observed a number of dogs running loose.
Alderman Morrison reported that a meeting of the Gallatin Area Revitalization Alliance will be held on Aug. 2, 2000. The group plans to help disseminate information on the street project.
Mayor Davis asked the board and others to volunteer their time over the next two weekends to deliver a question and answer information sheet on the street improvement project to residences in the city.
Bills in the amount of $73,306.74 were approved for payment.
