COUNTY COMMISSION
Following are approved minutes of July 17, 2000. All members were present.
The Clerk reported that following research of utility company valuations, the county lost $1,367,693 in valuation from Union Electric this year. In Benton, Grand River, Jefferson, Marion and Salem Townships, 42.02 miles of line were traded with Farmers Electric Cooperative for lines in Linn and Carroll counties. Union Electric, being a manufacturing company, is state assessed at a much higher rate than Farmers Electric, which is a distribution cooperative and locally assessed.
Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting on tube replacements; also, that the bridge in Washington Township on CART road #40 is now complete and open to traffic. Present construction is a bridge in Lincoln Township on CART road #53. They also discussed a tube on 280th Street in Jackson Township, determining that it is a township matter.
Jason Helton, Gallatin City Administrator, met with the commission regarding a cooperative project between the county and the city utilizing Green Hills Regional Planning Commission grant funds for the disposal of household waste.
The commission added .25 mile in Jackson Township, on CART road 448, to the CART program for the year 2001. The county will pay for 37.5 ton of base rock.
In Sheridan Township, the county will pay one-half the base rock on .25 mile on CART road #205 and .25 mile on CART road #192, bringing those roads up to CART specifications.
Ronnie Minnick and Bob Dixon met with the commission executing easements for the planned BRO project over Clear Creek.
The commission discussed the condition of the courthouse exterior. The clerk is to obtain estimates from Mid Continental and Karr Tuckpointing.
