Coffey Pioneer Days will be held Saturday, Aug., 5, 2000. A full day of events is planned this year with plenty of activities for the kiddies, grown-ups and all those young-at-heart. The barbecue dinner and whole hog roast will be served with baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, bread and ice tea. At least two sheriff’s candidates are lined up for the Junior Class dunking booth and more are invited.

Coffey Pioneer Days is sponsored by the City of Coffey and Coffey Community Betterment. Southern Comfort will perform a concert in the park during the evening. Everyone bring a lawn chair.

8:30 a.m. – Registration for Car, Truck and Motorcycle show

8 a.m. to ? – City wide garage sale

9 a.m. – Pet show

10 a.m. to ? – Junior Class dunking booth

10 a.m. to 10 p.m. – Cook Shack open

10 a.m. to ? – Flea market and vendors. Please, no hamburger, hot dog, or sandwich vendors. There is no charge for booths. Call in advance at 660-533-2606 and leave message

10 a.m. – Bicycle race

10 a.m. to ? – First Annual Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show. $5.00 entry fee.

10:30 a.m. – Three legged race

11 a.m. – Wheelchair races

1 p.m. – Trophies awarded to winners of each of the classes of the Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show

1 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Registration for Baby Show. $1.00 entry fee. Trophies for first place; ribbons for second and third place. Casual dress.

2 p.m. – Baby Show Boys and Girls categories:

0-5 months 6-11 months 12-17 months 18-23 months

2 years old 3 years old

2 p.m. – Tug-O-War

2 p.m. to 4 p.m. – White Elephant Bingo. Bring a prize to play.

2 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Kids Carnival games, face painting and engraving booth for kids jewelry

5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Whole hog roast, B.B.Q. dinner. Meat, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, bread and tea. $5.00 per plate.

7 p.m. to 10 p.m. – Concert in the park. Music by Southern Comfort. Please bring your lawn chairs. No alcohol in the park. Not responsible for accidents.
