Funeral services for Laverne Gutshall, a former resident of Gallatin, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2000, at the Gallatin Baptist Church with arrangements by Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home, Trenton. Burial will be in the Gilman City Masonic Cemetery. A scheduled family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The family suggests memorials be left to the Gallatin First Baptist Church.

Laverne Gutshall, 93, Trenton, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where he had resided since July 17, 1992.

Mr. Gutshall was born at Gilman City. He was a farmer in the Gilman City area until 1952 when he moved to Gallatin. He served several terms as Mayor of Gallatin. He moved to Trenton to enter the nursing home due to ill health in 1992.

Mr. Gutshall was a member of the Gallatin First Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon for many years.

Mr. Gutshall was married to Hazel Irene Norris in 1926 at Gilman City. She preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert C. Gutshall.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Bill Gutshall of Trenton; Phyllis Appleby of West Hills, Calif.; Pat Shaw of Florissant; and Bedonna Bachman of Iowa City, Iowa.
